TUESDAYS · 7–9PM
Men's Wellbeing
A single-sex evening for men, easy company and honest conversation. Drop the act, settle into the heat, and go at your own pace among others doing the same.
THE TRADITION
For most of the world that grew up around sauna, bathing without textiles isn't a statement, it's hygiene. Swimwear isn't built to breathe, and its synthetic fibres hold chemicals, sweat and bacteria. In real heat those plastics break down, and all of it ends up on the benches, in the cold plunge, and back on the skin of everyone bathing. Bare skin against towel and wood is simply cleaner, and the heat moves across the body the way it's meant to.
It's also the great leveller. Stripped of labels and logos, there's no telling the banker from the bricklayer, only people sharing the same heat. The self-consciousness most of us carry tends to dissolve somewhere in the first few minutes: when everyone is a little exposed, no one is. People leave a touch kinder to themselves, having quietly realised the room was never studying them at all.
We make room for it gently: single-sex nights to ease in, Men's Wellbeing Tuesdays 7–9pm and Women's Wellbeing Thursdays 7–9pm; a calm daytime session for mums and their little ones, Mums & Bubs fortnightly Tuesday 12–2pm; and a monthly mixed session with Get Naked Australia, Birthday Suit last Sunday 10am–3pm. Nudity is for the sauna and cold plunge; the rest areas stay clothed.

NEED TO KNOW
We hold the room together. Look out for one another, and our team is never far if you need them.
IN PARTNERSHIP WITH GET NAKED AUSTRALIA
Birthday Suit is our monthly mixed-gender, fully nude sauna session, run in partnership with Get Naked Australia, the country's largest body-positive community.
Get Naked Australia is a movement built on a simple idea: nudity in everyday, non-sexual settings is healthy, normal, and good for the way we see ourselves. They bring people together at beaches, bushwalks, pools and events around the country, challenging shame and celebrating every kind of body. Birthday Suit is the regular sauna chapter of that movement.
The atmosphere is relaxed, respectful and entirely non-sexual, and we keep it that way on purpose. Every place is confirmed through a booking request, so each room stays balanced and everyone in it is there for the right reasons. New to it? The easiest way in is alongside someone, a partner or a close friend, or once you've found your feet at one of our single-sex wellbeing nights. Nude in the sauna and cold plunge, clothed in the rest areas, the same as every other session.
JOINING A SESSION
Birthday Suit sessions are by registration-only. Fill in the form once, your name, contact and a couple of expectations, and you're on the GNA list.
When a session opens we email the list to announce that booking requests are open. Send yours through via the booking request form.
Our team confirms places to keep every session balanced across genders. Priority goes to previous Birthday Suit attendees, men's and women's wellbeing regulars, and couples or friends attending together.
Confirmed spots are pre-purchased to secure them. No-shows throw out the gender balance we work hard to hold, so a booking is a real commitment.
You're now part of changing the culture around nudity in Australia, one nude sweat at a time.

Australia is in desperate need of a new sauna culture, and we're here to change that!
This session provides access to both communal saunas and cold plunges, for all genders and ages.
Aufguss and our new Savusauna run from 2pm midweek and from 11am on weekends.
Aufguss/Infusion is a multi-sensory sauna ritual from Germany that combines water and ice with essential oils, towel movements, and music to create a unique ambience while elevating your regular sauna round (subject to our Saunameister' availability).
Infusions are included in your session, however capacity is limited; guests are welcome to join one infusion during their booked session.
A few points to help you get the most out of your sauna session
Respect for Environment

02
Sauna without barriers, as traditionally practised. Clothing-optional in the heat, these sessions return you to something more honest. There is no social armour to wear in here. When everyone is equally vulnerable, no one is.
A liberating, equalising space where every body is simply a body in the heat.

At Blue Mountains Sauna, we're championing an authentic and inclusive European-style sauna experience in the heart of the Blue Mountains.
Nude bathing not only provides a healthier and more hygienic experience. It feels liberating, invigorating, and empowering. Together with Get Naked Australia, we're promoting positive body image, challenging social preconceptions, and emphasising the non-sexual nature of nudity.

On Saturday afternoons the vibe shifts: music and BBQ on the deck. These are the sessions where strangers become friends. Nothing says authentic sauna culture like a good sweat followed by makkara (the sauna sausage).
Social Sauna: The Makkara Edition

05
Aufguss/Infusion is a multisensory sauna ritual from Germany that combines water and ice infused with essential oils, towel movements, and music to create a unique ambience while elevating your regular sauna session.
Done well, it is one of the most transformative and cathartic experiences you can have in the sauna. It demands nothing of you except to stay on the bench for as long as feels right. Our Saunameisters have been trained by international experts. We've travelled across Europe to bring the best practises to Australia while exploring our identity in Aufguss globally.
The Details

Everyday life is loud. The average person speaks 16,000 words a day. Silent Sessions exist for the moments when you need none of them.
Each person who enters the sauna arrives with their own reasons and intentions. Silence honours that. An inclusive, supportive space that holds whatever you arrived carrying.

07
A dedicated session where families are expected and understood. Two sessions alternate fortnightly, so check the schedule for which one is on. Everyone is welcome, with or without their children.
At Public Sauna Co there is no age limit. These sessions are a great way to introduce your little ones to real sauna culture. In Europe, it's quite normal for kids to sauna and cold plunge from a very young age. Some of our team members started at 6 months. We can't wait to see how much sauna will do for you and your little ones!

Hand-felt your own traditional sauna hat from 100% New Zealand merino wool, your design, yours to keep.
A felted wool hat is classic sauna kit. It insulates your head in the heat so you don't overheat, protects your hair and ears, and keeps you comfortable for longer. No experience needed, felting is simple, relaxing, and a lot of fun. No two hats are the same.

Chief Good Boy. Head of Security.
You found him. Alfred has been here since the start, mostly supervising from reception with his teddy. Give him a pat next time you're in.
Now, back to the heat.
Alfred's little brother. Everyone's best friend.
You found the cheeky one. Winter is all zoomies, wonky grins and dropped tennis balls, and he's convinced every single person who walks in is here to see him. He might be right.
Now, back to the heat.
